Whether a page is active or not, you may always preview it to see what it looks like. From the page list, click the “Preview” icon () for the page you want to view, and it will appear in a new window. Close the window when you are finished, and you will be back at the Page List for your group.

The "Preview" icon is also available in the page editor area, next to the page name field.
