    Adding Video to a Featured Event

    On certain SiteOrganic site designs, your home page features area can double as a video player! If your site is so equipped, you can add a mix of images and video to your features rotation. When a video is presented, the user will be able to play the video right on the page, without the need to launch a separate video player or page.

    NOTE: These instructions apply to websites that are Flash-free. If your website contains Flash, please click here for instructions.

    Step 1: Upload Your Video File

    Choose files & media > file manager and upload your video file to the desired folder. The video file format MUST be MP4  or Vimeo in order to function in the feature rotator area.

    Step 2: Create Your Feature Announcement Entry

    In the Admin Console:

    1. Choose Site Administration > Featured Events > Group > Add a new feature
    2. Complete the fields as necessary:

    • Text: required (this may or may not be shown on your home page, depending on your design)
    • Image Path: enter the file path of your video and/or image. You can enter your file path(s) in the following formats:

      • 1. /uploads/video.mp4|/uploads/image.jpg (video with poster image)
      2. /uploads/video.mp4 (video only)
      3. /uploads/image.jpg (image only)

    • Start Date: determines when your item starts appearing on the site
    • End Date: determines when your item stops appearing on the site
    • Event Date: determines the rotation order of the item on the site
    • URL: enter a url where the user will be directed for more information about the event (NOTE: on some designs, this URL will not be used if there is no "more info" link or button location)
    • Publish: this box needs to be checked in order for your video to appear on the site

    Once you have saved your featured event, your video will appear in the rotation on the site.
